This is a blog for the development of my SCA persona, Adelisa Salernitana, and an exploration of the culture of Sicily during the Muslim and Norman eras. My persona is a waiting woman of Norman-Lombard descent in the court of Roger II. Part of my writing will be about the things Adelisa would have seen, the food she would have eaten, the clothes she would have worn, and the crafts she might have practiced. I will also look at what other women might have experienced in that time, particularly the little known about the Muslim slaves of the court and the weavers in the royal Tiraz. I’ll also have dress diaries in here as I work on garb construction.
